Fabric Club London – Ten Years at the TopA Review of one of The World’s Best Underground Clubs
Opening its doors for the first time a decade ago this October, Fabric has, over the years, earned a justifiable reputation as one of the world's top clubs.
The purpose built three-room space has a dirty, industrial feel that perfectly suits its music policy while the Funktion One sound system has to be experienced to be believed. Producers love it for the crisp, clean sound it delivers and the way it brings their work to life in all its bass heavy glory, while punters love it for the energy it injects onto the dance floor without being making the bones judder! Music Policy at FabricIt is without doubt the music policy that has kept Fabric at the top for so long. A savvy team of promoters with a keen eye for new talent have consistently brought the most cutting edge DJs and live acts to the club over the past ten years, and in the process have been the first to unearth some of the most exciting new sounds of the underground. Friday nights see FABRICLIVE showcase these exciting new sounds with an eclectic mix of broken beats, electro, drum ‘n bass, breakbeat, hip-hop and indie dance. Expect to see acts like Scratch Perverts, DJ Marky, Vitalic, Switch, Benga, Skream, Shit Robot and LCD Sound System. Saturday nights are all about house and techno with long time residents Carl Richards and Terry Francis plus international guests. Avoiding the Queue at FabricWith very rare exceptions (most notably bank holidays) a packed club is almost guaranteed on both Friday and Saturday nights. Queues can be expected for international guests so to avoid the wait, be sure to buy tickets well in advance and get there early, particularly in the winter months! A three-hour wait in the cold does not make for a good start to the night. Once inside, the atmosphere hits you straight away. There is something very special about the energy of the club, and this is largely down to the music-loving crowd of young Londoners and Europeans who frequent it. By and large punters go to Fabric to dance for up to 8 hours straight and to hear DJs at the top of their game play some of the best and most current underground dance music you’ll hear anywhere in the world. It’s not about posing with expensive cocktails and eyeing up members of the opposite sex. By all means enjoy a cocktail, but stay well clear of the dancing throng or you’ll end up wearing it! Fabric’s 10th Birthday PartyTo celebrate ten years as one the world’s most successful clubs, Fabric will be opening its doors for a monster weekend party starting on Thursday 15th October. Festivities will kick off with a drum ‘n bass and dubstep stomper on the Thursday night, headlined by old skool masters DJ Hype and Andy C. FABRICLIVE on Friday will see Simian Mobile Disco, DJ Craze and Rusko headlining Rooms 1, 2 and 3 respectively, while residents Carl Richards and Terry Francis plus very special international guests will bring proceedings to a close on Saturday night, running right through til 10am on Sunday morning. Prepare for absolute mayhem on all three nights! More info can be found here.
