New Dance Techno Music March 2009

Tracks from Deadmau5, White Lies, Britney Spears & Jimmy D. Robinson

Mar 24, 2009 James W. Coates

From the smooth groove of Deadmau5's "Faxing Berlin" to the sleek dance of Britney Spears' "If U Seek Amy", there's lots of new dance techno music to download this month.

Newcomers White Lies offer a touch of old school Goth to the dance scene while poet Jimmy D. Robinson delivers a new spin on his poem “In The Night” featuring vocals by Ceevox making the dance techno music of March 2009 one of the more interesting in a long time.

Deadmau5 - Faxing Berlin

Canadian beat-maker Deadmau5 re-delivers “Faxing Berlin”, a smooth electro groove that builds to a quiet climax. Nominated for a Grammy in 2008, this chillout instrumental song sounds great before or after a night spent on the dancefloor. The very sexy rhythm has ripened with time - it is just now climbing the Club Airplay charts in the United States, and deserves another listen. Found on Random Album Title

Oasis - Falling Down (Chemical Brothers Remix)

The original bad boys of Britpop don't make songs that easily convert to the dancefloor but this remix merges the original rock track seamlessly with the Chemical Brothers' booming beats and hearty piano production. Oasis has also issued an EP which features remixes of this song from, among others, The Prodigy. Found on Dig Out Your Soul.

White Lies - From The Stars

Lead singer Harry McVeigh seems lost in the murky side of the 1980’s. "I saw a friend that I once knew at a funeral, he took time out to be seen," he sings in the opening of the track “From The Stars”. Taking a cue from The Smiths, The Pet Shop Boys and New Order/ Joy Division, White Lies blends morbidity and bite with a buzzing electronic atmosphere spun around jagged guitars. While the gloom revival may become stale after a complete album, this track shines as a true masterpiece for those who like a little Goth. Found on To Lose My Life...

Britney Spears - If U Seek Amy

On the flipside of dance, Britney Spears’ new track sounds like the polar opposite to White Lies. "Love me, hate me, say what you want about me, but all the girls and all the boys are begging to if you seek Amy", she belts in a saucy girlish voice. While innocent and grammatically incoherent on paper, the title sounds different when sung fast, causing a bit of a stir on American radio. However, the clubs love this raunchy, yet sleek dance pop track. Crazy never sounded so good. Found on Circus.

Jimmy D. Robinson - In The Night

This zippy electronic track builds on old school magic while infused with a futuristic sound. Dance diva Ceevox lends her chops to this track, a reciting of Jimmy D. Robinson’s poem. The follow up to "A Tiny Shoe” from last fall sounds completely different from that top ten smash, though it too was based on a poem found in the author’s Timewarp book of poetry. Perfect for prepping for a night of clubbing, and sounding even better on the dancefloor, “In the Night” has that rare ‘epic’ feel to it. Found on In The Night.

Along with these great tracks from Deadmau5, Oasis, White Lies, Britney Spears, and Jimmy D. Robinson, dance veterans the Pet Shop Boys and Norwegian chillout masters Royksopp release new albums in March 2009. Click here for more Hot Dance Techno Music.
