The Pet Shop Boys dish details of their highly anticipated tenth album Yes, to be released on March 23, 2009.

The Pet Shop Boys enlisted rock/pop royalty to assist them on their latest album, Yes, to be released this spring. Yes is their first album of new material since 2006’s Fundamental.

The Pet Shop Boys enlist Johnny Marr & Xenomania

Yes was produced by Brian Higgins, songwriter and producer who works under the name Xenomania. Past collaborations include work with 90’s disco-revamped Cher, Kylie Minogue and Girls Aloud. Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr also plays on several of the 11 newly recorded tracks.

Marr, who now plays with The Cribs, has previously teamed up with Neil Tennant, lead singer for the Pet Shop Boys, for their 1989 collaboration “Getting Away With It” a track recorded as Electronic along with New Order singer Bernard Sumner.

The current Girls Aloud single “The Loving Kind”, was co-written by Xenomania and The Pet Shop Boys, after the bands met during Yes recording sessions.

Love Etc

The album’s first single, “Love Etc.” will be released on March 16, 2009. The Pet Shop Boys collaborated and co-wrote three tracks with Xenomania which made the final cut including “Love Etc.” as well as album tracks “More Than A Dream”and “The Way It Used To Be”. The rest of the album was written by Tennant/Lowe with a credit given to Tchaikovsky on the cut "All Over the world".

The Pet Shop Boys have also enlisted string arranger Owen Pallett to contribute to Yes. Pallet, of Final Fantasy, has previously worked with The Arcade Fire and The Last Shadow Puppets.

On the official Pet Shop Boys website Chris Lowe comments “This album is amazing and it was great working with Xenomania”. “It’s a fantastic, wide-ranging pop record,” Neil Tennant adds, also telling the BBC that Yes is "a post-lifestyle anthem which sounds like nothing we've done before".

In addition to the 12 album tracks, The Pet Shop Boys are currently finishing several B-Sides to accompany the album’s lead single “Love Etc.”. “We’re all Criminals Now,” which Tennant reports as a song about “the erosions of freedom in this country,” and “Gin and Jag”, described as being “Quite dark” will be released along with “Love Etc.” on March 16, 2009.

I´m a big fan of them and I am looking to the new album very much. I´m also glad that they will receive the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award. They have made so many wonderful songs that they really deserve it and I think that they should have got it much earlier!!!! They are the BEST.

Oh god. I've been a huge fan of them since that day in my childhood that I listened "Domino Dancing" when my mom was driving her apple-red 1973 Ford Maverick. I remember that it had been a very lousy day for my mom and she turned the radio on and "Domino Dancing" came blarring through the car's speakers.
I've bought ALL of their albums. I'm so excited about this album! Can't wait for the 23 of March release of this album!!
