Dec 27, 2008 James W. Coates

After two sold out US tours, Australian Techno Dance duo, The Presets, return in support of their second CD 'Apocalypso' including a stop at Miami's Ultra Music Festival.

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, alternative dance duo consisting of Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes aim to conquer new fans with their brand of straightforward dance punk and electronic fusion.

Starting March 27, 2009 in Tallahassee Florida, The Presets will play Miami's Ultra Music Festival alongside Tiësto, Bloc Party, The Ting Tings, Carl Cox, Cut Copy, Deadmau5, Santogold and Hercules And Love Affair.

Their tour then snakes up to Washington and New England before heading to Canada for a show in Montreal and another in Toronto. They dip back down to the States in April where they’ll cross the country and wrap things up on April 20 in Pomona California.

Destination Apocalypso

Last time round, The Presets toured with fellow Australian dace pop group, Cut Copy as opening act. So far the opening act has not yet been announced.

The Presets are on tour in support of Apocalypso, a brilliant dance pop effort that has been shaking up dancefloors and arena’s all over the globe. It has achieved double platinum status (140,000) in Australia and spawned three successful singles “My People”, “This Boy's in Love” and “Talk Like That”, crowing them as Australia’s premier electronic act.

The Presets Blow Up to Apocalypso

The Presets first garnered notice with their 2003 EP, Blow Up. Winning over dance fans, the band released a follow up EP the next year entitled Girl and the Sea.

In 2005 the group released their debut album Beams to critical acclaim. Riding on the strength of their debut album, The Presets toured the UK and the US for several years, releasing two mini albums only available in the UK: Down Down Down and I Go Hard, I Go Hard. Near the end of their tour, the band released two singles "Truth & Lies" and “My People” which bridged the gap between debut and sophomore albums.

Upon release in 2008, their second full length, Apocalypso, again won over critics and ruled the airwaves and dancefloors of Australia and Europe, earning the group several prestigious music awards.

Hot on the heels of racking up numerous awards at the Australian Recording Industry Awards (ARIA) in 2008, including the prestigious Album of the Year Award for Apocalypso, The Presets bring their stage show back to North America.

To coincide with their US tour, The Presets release a special Collectors Deluxe Edition of Apocalypso, featuring remixes by D.I.M, Lifelike, Jence” Moelle (Digitalism), Dave Spoon, Felix, Optimo and Miami Horror.

Apocalypso is available now.
